Flamme innovante – Mathieu Lehanneur
In collaboration with Mathieu Lehanneur, the Olympic cauldron emerges as both an iconic and poetic creation, meticulously designed by Atelier blam from the earliest conceptual phases initiated by EDF. This unique achievement fuses technical expertise with refined aesthetic vision, contributing to the emotional intensity of the symbolic moment during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The innovative flame embodies the power of the symbol while embracing a gesture firmly oriented toward sustainability and technical prowess.
The flame, shaped as a floating ring, is created through the simultaneous projection of a mist cloud and a beam of light. This device generates a vibrant, warm, and dynamic electric flame that captivates attention with its brilliance. The fusion of mist and light gives rise to a perpetually shifting scene, where the flame appears to feed on the surrounding air, radiating a presence that is both mesmerizing and dreamlike.
Beyond its aesthetics, the cauldron is the result of in-depth research into materials, combining mechanical performance with aesthetic sensitivity. Every detail, every element was carefully considered and crafted to deliver a powerful visual and emotional experience. Artisanal expertise is elevated through material choices and fabrication techniques that honor both technical demands and a commitment to longevity.
Through its light, energy, and architecture, the work seeks to awaken a collective imagination of unity, solidarity, and excellence, while embodying a deep commitment to a more sustainable future.
