Designed by Christian de Portzamparc, the Rennes cultural centre comprises a museum, a library, a centre for scientific and technical culture, and exhibition and meeting spaces. The new layout of the Champs Libres hall will create new spaces and uses for the public. The first half of a 6-metre-high mobile mast is made of stainless steel, while the second, rotating part is made of aluminium. Nine branches of variable length are suspended from the mast, each end of which houses slowly rotating signage panels that can be easily changed according to the events taking place.
